Mobiles Start Fast, Freebirds Pull Away in Marysville
RedPocket scores three runs in the first two innings before Yuba-Sutter answers with steady offense
MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles opened Tuesday night with the kind of start they wanted in Marysville, jumping ahead early against the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds before falling 14–3. Gianni Horvat led off the night with a strong spark, eventually scoring on a Jordan Harrison-Dudley RBI single through the right side. Maury Weaver also crossed the plate in the first when Eli Young reached on a fielder's choice, giving RedPocket a quick 2–0 lead before Yuba-Sutter answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half.
RedPocket moved back in front in the second, using speed and pressure to manufacture another run when Marquis Jackson scored on a passed ball to make it 3–2. Horvat finished as the Mobiles' top offensive bright spot, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base, while Harrison-Dudley added a hit, an RBI, and a stolen base. The Mobiles also drew six walks and stole three bases, showing early traffic and aggressiveness even as the offense was held to three hits overall.
Yuba-Sutter took control after that, scoring three runs in the second and continuing to add on through the sixth inning. Jordan Donahue hit two home runs and drove in five for the Freebirds, while Kenneth Jimenez added three hits and three RBIs. For RedPocket, Billy Rozakis provided a positive finish on the mound, working two scoreless innings with one strikeout and retiring all six batters he faced. It was another difficult final score for the Mobiles, but the early lead, Horvat's strong night, and Rozakis' clean relief outing gave RedPocket a few real pieces to carry forward.
