Chavez Powers Mobiles in Oakland Battle
Josiah Chavez homers twice and drives in four as RedPocket pushes Ballers late
OAKLAND, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles kept fighting Saturday night in Oakland, but a late rally came up short in an 8–6 loss to the Ballers at Raimondi Park. After Oakland struck first in the opening inning, RedPocket answered right away in the second when Josiah Chavez launched a two-run homerun, scoring Kishon Frett and giving the Mobiles a 2–1 lead. The Ballers responded with runs in the second and third, but RedPocket stayed within striking distance behind Chavez's big night and a lineup that continued to create pressure.
Chavez remained the center of the Mobiles' offense, driving in another run with a groundout in the fourth before going deep again in the seventh with a solo shot to center field. He finished 2-for-4 with two homeruns and four RBIs, accounting for most of RedPocket's production on the night. Gianni Horvat added two doubles and a stolen base, Justin Johnson doubled home Ravaughn Morgan in the eighth, and Frett followed with a sacrifice fly to score Johnson, cutting Oakland's lead to 8–6.
The Mobiles finished with nine hits and kept pushing until the final innings, but Oakland's four homerun night created just enough separation. Matt Lauria took the loss after working into the sixth, while Bobby Curry and Ubaldo Romo combined to finish the game out of the bullpen, with Romo tossing a scoreless eighth. RedPocket did not get the result it wanted, but Chavez's breakout power performance, Horvat's continued production, and another late push gave the Mobiles more signs of growth as the road trip continued.
