Mobiles Open Long Beach’s Historic Night with Early Pressure

LONG BEACH, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles were part of a milestone night Tuesday, visiting the Long Beach Coast for the inaugural home opener in Coast franchise history. RedPocket struck first in the second inning when Maury Weaver lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing home Marco Martinez and giving the Mobiles a 1–0 lead. Long Beach answered with five runs in the bottom half, but RedPocket continued to put traffic on the bases and finished the night with 11 hits.

The Mobiles kept chipping away early. Marquis Jackson scored in the third on a Spence Coffman RBI single to center field, and RedPocket added two more runs in the fifth when Ravaughn Morgan singled home Gianni Horvat and Josiah Chavez to cut the deficit to 7–4. Coffman led the Mobiles' offense with a 3-for-4 night and an RBI, while Horvat, Martinez, and Chavez each added two hits. Martinez and Chavez both doubled, and Weaver and Jackson each stole a base.

Long Beach eventually pulled away for a 13–4 win, using a five-run second inning and steady production throughout the middle and late frames to take control of its historic home debut. Edgar Rodriguez struck out six over four innings for RedPocket, while Billy Rozakis delivered a clean scoreless seventh out of the bullpen. The final score went the Coast's way, but the Mobiles were active offensively, stayed aggressive on the bases, and played their part in a memorable first home game for one of the Pioneer League's newest clubs.
