Mobiles’ Early Explosion Slips Away in Long Beach
RedPocket scores 11 runs in the first three innings before the Coast rallies back
LONG BEACH, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles came out swinging Wednesday night against the Long Beach Coast, building an 11–3 lead through three innings before falling 12–11 in a wild game at Blair Field. RedPocket struck for four runs in the first inning, with Kishon Frett, Ravaughn Morgan, Justin Johnson, and Marco Martinez each driving in a run to give the Mobiles an immediate 4–0 advantage. Long Beach answered with three runs in the bottom half, but RedPocket's offense was far from finished.
The Mobiles erupted again in the third, putting together a seven-run inning to create their biggest lead of the night. Johnson singled home Morgan, Gianni Horvat reached on an error that allowed Johnson to score, Spence Coffman followed with a two-run single, Frett doubled home Coffman, and Morgan added another RBI single before Frett came home later in the inning. Morgan led the RedPocket offense with a huge 4-for-5 night, driving in two runs and stealing a base, while Horvat, Coffman, Frett, and Johnson each collected two hits. Coffman, Frett, Morgan, and Johnson all finished with two RBIs as the Mobiles piled up 14 hits.
Long Beach chipped away from there, scoring once in the fourth, six times in the sixth, and twice in the seventh to complete the comeback. Billy Rozakis gave RedPocket a clean eighth inning with two strikeouts, but the Mobiles could not push across another run after the third. It was a difficult result after such a strong start, but RedPocket's lineup showed real firepower, with 11 runs, 14 hits, and one of its most explosive offensive stretches of the season.
