Mobiles Rally Back Before Coast Answer Late
Gianni Horvat doubles home a run as RedPocket erases a three-run deficit in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles battled their way back Thursday night against the Long Beach Coast, but a late answer from the home side handed RedPocket a 5–4 loss at Blair Field. Long Beach struck first in the third inning on a three-run homer from Thomas McCaffrey, but the Mobiles began chipping away in the fifth when Harold Torres singled and advanced on an error, allowing Maury Weaver to score and cut the deficit to 3–1.
RedPocket completed the comeback in the seventh. Eli Young and Harold Torres reached ahead of Gianni Horvat, who doubled to left field to bring home Young and make it a one-run game. Spence Coffman then put the ball in play with runners aboard, allowing Torres to score and Horvat to come home on an error, tying the game at 3–3. Eli Young led the Mobiles with two hits, while Horvat added the RBI double and Torres scored twice as RedPocket turned a quiet offensive night into a late push.
Ren Arias kept the Mobiles in the game with six innings on the mound, allowing three runs while striking out two, and Philip Sanders followed with a scoreless seventh. Long Beach finally broke the tie in the eighth when Matthew Bardowell tripled home Patrick Roche Jr., then scored on Emilio Corona's sacrifice fly. Billy Rozakis limited further damage, but RedPocket could not answer in the ninth. It was another narrow loss, but the Mobiles showed fight again, erasing a three-run deficit and forcing Long Beach to win it late.
