Mobiles Steal the Show in 17–16 Barnburner
Justin Johnson drives in seven as RedPocket survives a wild ninth-inning finish in Missoula
MISSOULA, Mont. — The RedPocket Mobiles turned a chaotic night in Missoula into one of their most dramatic wins of the season, outlasting the PaddleHeads 17–16 in a game that featured 33 runs, 32 hits, and multiple lead changes. RedPocket struck first with two runs in the second on a Josiah Chavez single, then doubled the lead in the third when Justin Johnson ripped a two-run double to right-center. Missoula answered with six runs over the next two innings, but the Mobiles refused to let the game get away.
Kishon Frett tied the game at 6–6 with a two-run homer in the sixth, and Braylon Bishop followed with a two-run triple to put RedPocket back in front. Missoula responded with six runs of its own in the bottom half and another in the seventh, but Johnson brought the Mobiles within two with a two-run homer. That set up the decisive eighth inning, when bases-loaded walks to Spence Coffman and Jordan Harrison-Dudley cut the deficit to one before Johnson cleared the bases with a three-run triple, giving RedPocket a 15–13 lead.
Johnson finished 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a home run, seven RBIs, and two runs scored. Harrison-Dudley was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a walk, five runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Bishop added a triple, two RBIs, two runs, three steals, and a walk, while Frett homered and drove in two. The Mobiles scored their final two runs in spectacular fashion in the ninth, with Marquis Jackson stealing home before Bishop followed by stealing home himself to stretch the lead to 17–13.
Those insurance runs proved essential. Missoula scored three times in the bottom of the ninth and brought the potential winning run to the plate, but Juan Abreu finally shut the door to preserve the one-run victory. After so many painful late-game losses, RedPocket flipped the script again, delivered the biggest swings, made bold plays on the bases, and held on through one final furious charge.
