Jordan Harrison-Dudley Steps Up to Win Knockout Round Thriller
Mobiles' slugger delivers two homers in the shootout as RedPocket outlasts Yuba-Sutter
MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The RedPocket Mobiles opened Tuesday night with their loudest first inning of the season, then survived a furious Yuba-Sutter Freebirds comeback before winning in the Pioneer Baseball League's signature Knockout Round at Bryant Field. RedPocket exploded for nine runs in the first inning, powered by a Hector Nieves RBI double, a Kishon Frett RBI single, a three-run home run from Josiah Chavez, a solo homer from Jordan Harrison-Dudley, and a three-run double from Spence Coffman. Justin Johnson added a solo home run in the fifth, giving the Mobiles a 10–4 lead before Yuba-Sutter clawed all the way back to tie the game at 10–10.
The Freebirds chipped away with two runs in the second, two more in the fourth, four in the sixth, and two in the seventh, eventually pulling even on a Zach Chamizo RBI single. RedPocket's bullpen helped steady the game from there, with Miguel Ochoa, Billy Rozakis, and Wyatt Adams combining to keep Yuba-Sutter off the board over the final stretch. Adams was especially sharp, striking out two in a clean final inning to send the tied game into the league's sudden-death tiebreaker.
Instead of traditional extra innings, the Pioneer Baseball League uses a unique Knockout Round — a home run shootout that gives fans one final burst of drama when a game is tied after regulation. RedPocket selected Harrison-Dudley, who stepped in against Manager Dmitri Young and launched two home runs over the right field fence in his two-minute round. Yuba-Sutter countered with Easton Amundson, hitting off Hitting Coach Robby Bales, but Amundson managed one homer, giving the Mobiles the 2-1 Knockout Round win. The PBL Knockout Round delivered the exact kind of chaos, tension, and fun that has made it one of the league's most entertaining features.
