Rain, Runs & Rockets: Mobiles Blast Eight Homers in 18–12 Win
Andy Valdes drives in six as RedPocket outslugs Idaho Falls before the skies open
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The RedPocket Mobiles continued their offensive surge Saturday night, blasting eight home runs and collecting 18 hits in an 18–12 victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars. The game was called because of rain in the seventh inning, but not before RedPocket scored at least three runs in five different frames. Hector Nieves opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first, and Andy Valdes followed with a grand slam to give the Mobiles a quick 6–0 lead.
Idaho Falls fought back to tie the game at 9–9 after two innings, but RedPocket immediately reclaimed control. Spence Coffman doubled home Braylon Bishop in the third, Josiah Chavez singled in Coffman, and Justin Johnson brought home Jordan Harrison-Dudley to make it 12–9. Marquis Jackson added a two-run homer in the fourth, and Nieves followed with an RBI single to extend the advantage to 15–10.
Valdes led the power display, finishing 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs. Nieves also homered twice and drove in four, while Bishop, Coffman, Jackson, and Marco Martinez each went deep. Bishop reached base four times, scored four runs, doubled, homered, and stole two bases. Martinez collected three hits, and Harrison-Dudley doubled twice, scored twice, and reached base four times.
Agnel Miranda earned the win after working four innings in relief and limiting Idaho Falls to three runs after the Chukars' nine-run opening surge. Valdes and Martinez added back-to-back homers in the seventh to restore a six-run cushion before rain ended the game. The victory gave RedPocket consecutive wins to open the Idaho Falls series and 33 runs across the first two games.
