RedPockets’ Early Push Overwhelmed in 23–12 Loss
Josiah Chavez drives in three as RedPocket’s offense keeps battling in Idaho Falls
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The RedPocket Mobiles scored three runs in the first inning and continued producing throughout Sunday's game, but the Idaho Falls Chukars pulled away for a 23–12 victory. Braylon Bishop scored the opening run when Spence Coffman reached on an error, and two more runs crossed on another Idaho Falls miscue. After the Chukars moved ahead in the second, Josiah Chavez tied the game at 5–5 with a solo home run in the third.
RedPocket briefly reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Chavez brought home Hector Nieves, but Idaho Falls answered with four runs in the bottom half and six more in the fifth. The Mobiles responded with three runs in the sixth, highlighted by Bishop's solo homer, an RBI single from Nieves, and Chavez's third RBI of the afternoon.
Justin Johnson led RedPocket with three hits, including a double and a triple, while Nieves went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs scored, two walks, and two stolen bases. Bishop scored three times, homered, drove in a run, walked twice, and stole two bases. Maury Weaver also tripled and scored during RedPocket's three-run eighth inning.
Idaho Falls finished with 23 runs on 22 hits, including five home runs. The Mobiles closed the game with Marquis Jackson on the mound, and he allowed one run over the eighth inning. Despite the final score, RedPocket reached double figures for the third consecutive game in Idaho Falls and finished the afternoon with 12 runs, 10 hits, and 10 walks.
